Reflection on the movie, “Pirates of the Silicon Valley”

Based on my understanding on the movie “Pirates of the Silicon Valley,” there were four virtues that were being emphasized: passion, perseverance, humility and acceptance. The two main characters, Steve Jobs who was into the Apple business and computer inventor and Bill Gates the creator of Microsoft eventually found each other and exemplified the four virtues.
Both characters do not carry a college diploma but the things they have in common are creativity and innate intelligence that had made them successful. But on the contrary, since we live in a society where formal education is just as necessary as our physiologic needs, it is one of the ways to succeed in life and to be used as credentials in order to find a better job. Jobs and Gates use these gifts that made our lives technical, modern and complex but had make our tasks nowadays more simplified. We owe them the advance knowledge and information that computers and software could contribute whether in work or school purposes. Knowledge in computers in this modern generation is often one of the qualities that would help you acquire a better job.
Both Gates and Jobs built a passion in them when they invented computers and Microsoft as its operating system. They relied on their creativity and kept their imagination working until their inventions were recognized and their hard works paid off
Despite of their long term goal on their inventions, they took their time and persevere and were optimistic that they would reach their goal that would benefit mankind as a whole.
At first, Jobs didn’t realized that he needs a software for his computers to be purposely working until Gates came into the picture and introduced to him Microsoft. Jobs was still in the peak of his popularity and success and he is in total power and was treating Gates as his major competitor and even accused him of pirating his software. But when Jobs learned to accept and humbled himself, his’ and Gates’ inventions worked and blended together and we currently are benefiting from it.
But success in career can’t really contribute genuine happiness. Jobs, was not really happy not until he accepted her daughter from his former girlfriend and made her as part of his new family. His best friend also named Steve who was formerly working for him found fulfillment in teaching computers to children and funding a ballet.
Success and happiness must go hand in hand. We must not preoccupy ourselves too much in achieving success and looked down on people who are not fortunate enough to have the success like ours. We must value our loved ones and the people who are working for us for that is where true happiness and success dwells when we gain the respect of the people around us.
